Michael Derkevorkian , DVM

As Veterinarian, Dr. Mike's responsibilities are to provide quality health care services to clients and their pets. As the owner of Maple Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Mike establishes hospital goals and standards.
Dr. Mike purchased Maple Veterinary Hospital in June, 2010. He graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mike has worked at several small animal hospitals and veterinary emergency services prior to purchasing Maple Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Mike has a special interest in surgery and internal medicine. Some of the surgeries that Dr. Mike has a special interest in include knee surgery (MRIT), ear surgery (TECABO) and a variety of other surgeries such as limb amputation, liver and bladder surgery and soft tissue surgery.  He also has a special interest in auto-immune diseases.   This special interest developed as a young vet school student while his mother was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, which is an auto-immune disease.  His mother fought hard against the disease for roughly 20 years, and eventually lost her battle in 2008. Dr. Mike has also brought a unique service to Maple Veterinary Hospital since he bought the practice. That service is In-Home Humane euthanasia.  We all know how difficult this time is for the family of a pet, and Dr. Mike wants everyone to have all the options available to make this difficult time a little less difficult.
In his free time, Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Amanda and three daughters, Millei , Libby and Hazel.  He is also an avid Spartan Fan!
​Charles VanHusan, DVM
Originally from Southwest Michigan, Dr. VanHusan attended Michigan State University where he earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Science, then his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine as a member of the class of 2007 - and a classmate of Dr. Mike. As a student Dr. V  received several honors from his instructors, peers, and organizations involved in animal healthcare. 
Professionally Dr. V has a strong interest in internal medicine and pain management and completed additional training to become a Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist (cVMA) in 2019.
Dr. V has experience in small animal general practice and emergency medicine, and has also taught courses in anesthesia and surgery for students training to become veterinary technicians.
In his free time Dr. V enjoys the outdoors, especially trout fishing; home improvement projects, time with family and friends, and cheering on the Spartans.
Dr. VanHusan lives in Port Huron with his wife Julie, three stepchildren, and their Shih tzu-terrier named Chewy.
Evan Carter-Taylor, DVM
A Detroit native, Dr. Carter earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University, graduating with honors. He is a 2021 graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in Indiana. Dr. Carter has done extensive training in companion animal medicine and multiple wildlife and exotic animal externships, including 3 months working to mitigate wildlife-human conflict between rural farmers and big cats in Zimbabwe.  
Dr. Carter brings a strong passion for surgery and community engagement. As a student and doctor, he has worked with local rescues and animal control departments across the Metro-Detroit area.  
In his free time, he enjoys mixed martial arts, mentoring students, dancing, drawing, gaming, and spending time with his family. Dr. Carter and his wife Alondra have a lovable American Bulldog mix named Blitz.
